Are you ready for step 4? We are heading to the credible logo finale. But no spoilers are allowed at this point. Today we are going through typography tips. Hope to help you choose the right font for your logo<\/a>\u00a0to transmit the right message<\/a> and match the personality of your brand with the type\u2019s personality.<\/p>\n

Typography<\/b><\/p>\n

Rule number one is legibility.\u00a0You should\u00a0imagine this logo from an outdoor to a business card<\/a> size. Thus\u00a0it has to be easily readable or identified, there is a rule made by the designer Jessica Hiche that I\u00a0love. It\u2019s called \u201crule Il1\u201d. When you decide to\u00a0use\u00a0a Sans Serif font, type (i) on uppercase \u201cI\u201d, a lowercase (L) \u201cl\u201d and the number one \u00a0\u201c1\u201d side by side to see if you can distinguish them. In case you don\u2019t, the ideal would be to change it so you don\u2019t have comprehension problems.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Typography style, as everything else we are discussing, need to represent your company.\u00a0Each type\u00a0has its personality, so pay attention to match the adjectives you defined to your brand at the planning step with the typography options. Some\u00a0types are elegant, others are informal, others traditional.\u00a0<\/span>Based on Dan Mayer\u2019s study and <\/span>article<\/span><\/a> I\u2019ve come to this families and meanings:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Geometric Sans<\/strong> has two sides. The positive communicates clear, objective, modern and universal and the negative goes for cold, impersonal and boring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Humanist Sans<\/strong> manage to have modern yet human, clear yet empathetic. But could be seen also as fake and not honest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Old Style<\/strong> could be classic, traditional, readable or just classic and traditional.<\/span><\/p>\n

Transitional and modern<\/strong> faces seem strong, stylish, dynamic. But attention, \u00a0they could seem too conspicuous and baroque to be classic or too old-fashioned to be truly modern.<\/span><\/p>\n
