Clients want to be part of the process and to feel like they have a say, so sitting down and talking about their ideas is vital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ask your client questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What does your brand represent?<\/li>\n<li>Who is your brand\u2019s audience or clients?<\/li>\n<li>What are the goals of your business?<\/li>\n<li>What makes you different from other businesses?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The answers to these questions will help you know what your clients want to say with the logo.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, you should verify with the client what type of logo they are looking for.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abstract<\/li>\n<li>Pictorial<\/li>\n<li>Wordmark<\/li>\n<li>Combination Mark<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Be sure to get an idea of which ones they would like. Logos will serve different purposes. So if they\u2019re looking for a website header logo, that will be very different than a storefront logo.<\/p>\n<h2>Research<\/h2>\n<p>The next step is to research. What are competitors in the same field doing? How can you design something unique and better than what the competitors have?<\/p>\n<p>This is a critical step! The last thing you want to do is preset a client with a logo that\u2019s similar or not as nice as a competitor\u2019s.<\/p>\n<h2>Brainstorming and Sketching<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s time to start designing! You\u2019ll want to start by brainstorming through your favorite method. Maybe this is a lot of post-it notes on your wall or a mind map.<\/p>\n<p>It can help to visualize words that are associated with your client\u2019s brand. Brainstorming and sketching will be a very intuitive process that comes with experience, but if you need some inspiration, head to Pinterest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another great way to brainstorm is to create a mood board that represents the brand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Digitalize the Design<\/h2>\n<p>Once you have a rough sketch, you\u2019ll want to take to an online program to start digitizing the design.
