Emergencies have always been with man. Right from the unit of society—the individual, to families, cities, states and nations, emergencies are known almost on daily basis; hence the need to appreciate and foster logos meant for emergency situations.
As diverse situations around the globe continue to demand prompt emergency response, people must become conversant with signs, images and logos which have been crafted to aid prevention; and also, safety of people and properties during such occurrences.
Thanks to several emergency service organizations that have helped to lessen the effect of both artificial and natural adverse situations. However, there is more to be done. In fact, in spite of the ability of emergency agencies to predict such occurrences, incidences can defy predictions. Therefore there is need for utmost alertness at all times. And this must be especially on the part of government, Non-governmental agencies, the media, and the people too.
Clearly, it is important that there be proper enlightenment, especially with the aid of symbols and explicit write-ups. Furthermore, emergency organizations must make sure to craft proper logos by which they can be identified for what they stand for. By these and much more, the effects of contrary situations can be lowered.

One of the characteristics of established institutions or reputable fields of human endeavor is the adoption of an emblem, logo or symbol by which they are generally known. Medical practice in fact is perceived to be as old as man himself. And over the years, the practice has emerged to be indispensable to human existence.
For centuries now, renowned medical organizations across the globe have adopted the Staff of Asclepius symbol while some others have chosen the Caduceus.
As a matter of fact, the practice of medicine and health care in general is experiencing a dichotomy. There are breathtaking breakthroughs in both preventive and curative medicine. Today, we can talk about hemispherectomy, mastectomy, hysterectomy and other “tomies” and also, transplants. The advent of medical procedures such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is also one of the remarkable advancements in modern medicine. Furthermore, a disease such as poliomyelitis has become an occurrence of the past in almost every part of the world.
However, the challenges that continue to face the medical profession are quite enormous too. The HIV/AIDS endemic is still defying curative medication and the eruption of cases of cancer all over the globe continues to be a puzzle to medical scientists.
In all, it’s not time to give up as these symbols of medicine which have outlived centuries continue to inspire the medical profession.

No doubt, man has made a lot of giant strides since the beginning of his existence on planet earth. He has been able to survive several periods including the Dark, Stone, Iron and Jet Ages. Now, he voyages
in the Information Age—Man is a great survivor.
But imagine a world without patriots! They are loyalists—men and women, boys and girls who love humanity and stand by proper ideals and great innovations. We’ve known patriotism to be a person’s love for his nation but it goes beyond that. “The world is my country…”, said Thomas Paine. Hence there are men and women who through innovation, sacrifice (of possessions and their own lives) are actually world patriots.
To be factual, there are unsung patriots who have defied the odds inthe little corner of the world where they have found themselves. They were change agents and many of those tiny seeds they have sown have become great oaks under which nations now find rest. However, there are those that are well known—men that made us fly, gave the world electricity, stopped the slave trades and did several exploits that have made the whole world indebted to them.
But great patriots are not without logos—symbols that inspired them to forge on in spite of severe criticisms and persecution. Either created or adopted; physical or intangible they were driving forces. Symbols of nations, communities and great causes keep inspiring several patriots across the globe. It is a matter of “never give up”until we achieve a better world.
