5 Creative Placements for a Clothing Line Logo Posted on June 27, 2017 by Logo Design Tips and Tricks
clothing line logo

At the end of the day, a t-shirt ultimately serves two distinct yet important purposes.

First and foremost, they’re comfortable and easy to wear. There’s something about a good t-shirt that feels comforting yet stylish. But there’s a secondary, more important purpose. A t-shirt is essentially a form of branding that your audience pays for.

Accordingly, you’ll want to make sure your logo stands out. Read on for some creative placement ideas for your clothing line logo.

5 Creative Placements for a Clothing Line Logo

1. On the Hem

If you’re using a solid color, placing a colorful logo on the hem of your shirt is a great way to play with contrast.

It’ll immediately make your logo pop and stand out to anyone who sees it. More than that, it’s a subtle way to draw the human eye towards your logo.

Take a white tee, for instance. By contrasting the color (even if it’s just black) of your logo with the solid white of the shirt, you’ve managed to create an easy way to get noticed.

2. On the Sleeves

This is a popular choice that a lot of clothing companies are utilizing. You’ll have a few different options if you choose to put your clothing brand logo on the sleeve.

You can have an understated, small logo on the hem, for instance.

Or you can have your logo run across the bicep in slightly larger print. This can be a great idea for athletic wear, like what Monsta Clothing Co. has on some of their shorts.

If you’re offering long-sleeve tees, use a design with your logo running down the length of the sleeve.

Using different fonts can make a difference, too. For instance, have your logo on the breast pocket, then in a different font on the sleeves.

3. Patterned

Of course, there’s a chance that subdued isn’t quite your style. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, sometimes the most memorable logos are the ones that are in your face.

If that’s the case with your brand, a patterned design all across the t-shirt (yes, front and back) is a great option. The human eye loves patterns, so this is a surefire way to draw some attention.

4. On the Back

Sometimes it’s hard to beat a classic. Featuring your clothing line logo on the back of a shirt, either vertically or horizontally, is always a smart call.

It’s simple, sure, but the classics work for a reason.

5. Wrapped Around

This is a fun design that few companies take advantage of. By wrapping your text around the front and back of your t-shirt, you’re going to stand out in the best way possible.

Remember the checkerboard pattern? Wrapping your logo works in much the same way. The human eye wants to complete patterns, so eyes will be drawn to your logo.

You can either wrap it around the breast or place your logo diagonally like a sash.

Your Logo is a Statement

Your logo represents your brand as a whole. It needs to be every bit as creative and innovative as you are.

Get creative with your clothing line logo placement and stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Startup Logos: How to Create the Best Design Posted on June 27, 2017 by Logo Design Tips and Tricks
startup logos

It’s a fact no entrepreneur enjoys hearing: 9 out of every 10 startups will fail.

What can you do to ensure that you end up in that coveted 10%? Believe it or not, your branding has more of an influence than you might think. It can communicate your intention to potential investors, show how you plan to disrupt the market, and just make it clear that you’re an epic company in the making.

But how can you create awesome startup logos?

Read this post to find out!

Go for a Custom Font

In the startup world, you need to do everything you can to stand out. You probably already know firsthand that sometimes, that means taking things to the next level.

One of the ways you can prove that you’re an innovator in the design of your startup logos?

Your typography.

While yes, there are a lot of great font options already out there to choose from, they’ve also been chosen by thousands of other companies around the globe. You don’t want to send the message to potential investors that you plan to stick to the status quo.

Instead, it’s a good idea to have a customized font made specifically for your company. Not only will this help your logo to stand out, it will also help you to build your brand. Now, when people see your font, they’ll automatically associate it with your startup.

Communicate Your Mission

The startup world is all about the strength of your initial pitch — and you should consider your logo the ultimate elevator pitch or introductory email!

You can use your logo, and especially any image you include, to prove how you’re different from the competition. For example, give investors an inside look at how your company is run.

If your office is made up of coworking spaces that allow for a hyper-collaborative, fast-paced work environment, show that in your logo image. Let people get a sense of all the ideas zipping around your office.

Also, make sure that your logo tells a story. For example, if you came up with the idea for your company on a camping trip, you might want to include the image of a campfire in your logo.

Why?

Exactly — because it makes people ask questions, giving you the chance to extend that elevator pitch.

Start Making Impactful Startup Logos Today

Thanks to this post, you’re ready to create the kinds of startup logos that make other entrepreneurs green with envy — and venture capitalists turn their heads in your direction.

But just as you do at every roundtable with your team, you need to take multiple ideas into consideration. When you’re trying to finalize your logo design, it’s always a good idea to weigh your options.

We suggest using our free online logo maker tool to try out several different designs. Then, decide with your team which one is the most on-brand, in tune with your target market, and likely to blow the competition out of the water?

The Most Memorable New Logos of 2017 Posted on June 26, 2017 by Logo Design Tips and Tricks
new logos

Does your logo feel outdated, inconsistent with where you are now as a brand, or irrelevant to your target market?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, it’s likely time to start considering a re-branding.

Confused about where to start? Don’t worry — we’re here to help you find a little inspiration. In this post, we’ll share with you some of the most memorable new logos from this year.

Hopefully by the end, we’ll have you convinced that creating new logos for your company is a brilliant branding strategy!

Calvin Klein

Fashion giant Calvin Klein’s new logo is all about celebrating the history of this iconic fashion brand. In February of 2017, the brand debuted an updated logo that made quite a statement.

While Calvin Klein has always been rooted in minimalism, they still wanted to make an impact. That’s why they switched to an all-caps logo, with a bolder typography that replaced the slender lettering of the past.

It was also a wonderful way to usher in the house’s new designer, former Dior Darling Raf Simons. This subtle switch heralded a new era for the house — and attracted lots of attention.

The Evolution Of Kodak

Camera giant Kodak is certainly no stranger to switching up its logo. But this year, it took a decided risk — hopping on the “retro” trend bandwagon. Now, Kodak is using the same logo that it did in 1971.

It’s a risk that paid off without muddling the company’s branding. The “K” is still completely recognizable, and the smart use of the company colors — red and yellow — ensure that consumers never forget the legacy of Kodak.

Subway Sandwiches

Sometimes, companies need to re-brand for more unpleasant reasons. After the sandwich giant’s spokesperson, Jared Fogle, was convicted of a particularly hideous crime, Subway made a smart move by choosing to rebrand.

In the past, Subway’s logo was somewhat three-dimensional. It centered on showing off the three colors of the brand — yellow, white, and green. Perhaps the most famous feature of the logo was the 2 subway arrows, pointing in the “uptown” and “downtown” directions on the first and last letters.

The new logo has kept the iconic arrows and colors but shows the brand in a new light. Now, the lettering is solid, with a bolder, more crisp font.

Subway has also done a wonderful job of taking advantage of all the re-branding opportunities that come with a logo redesign. They’ve also released videos of customers talking about their own “transformative journeys.”

Ready To Start Creating New Logos?

As you can see from the examples above, re-branding is a wonderful way to give your company and its image new life.

A logo re-design can introduce you to an entirely new customer base, pump up your social media presence, and show your competition that you’re not afraid to get with the times.

We know you’re ready to start creating new logos now! To get started, use our free online logo maker tool to play around with your options. Always remember to keep checking back with our blog for the latest innovations and trends in logo design!

How to Use a Free Logo Maker Step-By-Step Posted on June 22, 2017 by Logo Design Tips and Tricks
free logo design

A logo is one of the most important parts of a business’s brand. It defines the business. It’s the mark that others recognize among the competition.

Unfortunately, many people assume that you need to spend a small fortune to get a great logo. It’s easy to see why people have this assumption. Talented, experienced graphic designers can charge a couple thousand dollars for a good logo. But does it have to be this way?

Not at all! A good logo is quite affordable if you do it yourself. Don’t think you have the talent or skill to make your own? Think again.

An online logo maker will make a free logo design easy to create. This article will guide you through the steps you need to follow to create something unique for your business.

Let’s begin with the basics: the design itself.

A Free Logo Design

What is it that you want to design? What’s the best design to represent your brand? What design will potential customers or clients relate to the most?

These are all questions you should start to think about before starting the design process. A free logo design is just like any other logo: it needs to be effective. If a logo can’t represent your business and make it memorable, it won’t do its job.

Thankfully, coming up with a good logo design isn’t difficult. The best thing to do is plan out a design ahead of time. It doesn’t have to be pretty. It just needs to give you an idea of what the logo will ultimately look like.

Start by making some basic doodles on the computer or some paper. Don’t worry about straight lines or legible text. The most important thing is to get the ideas out on paper.

One of the key aspects you will begin to see is the elements you want to include in the logo. All logos have some combination of visual elements. Typically, there are text, lines, and/or graphics that stand out.

By drawing a rough sketch out, you will be able to see what elements seem right for your logo. More importantly, you will also begin to notice how you want these elements arranged. Their spacing and arrangement in relation to each other are important.

All good logos are balanced. Nothing major sticks out unless it is important. Remember that all the individual logo elements need to play well together.

To give yourself more options, repeat this basic design process a few times. Create a few different logo options to choose and don’t be afraid to get a little crazy as you do all this. This point is about the brainstorming!

Once you have a few options in front of you, give yourself some time to decide. Take a break before you make the choice so you can return with fresh eyes. Once the time feels right, make your choice.

Do you have a winning logo idea? Does it feel incomplete? That’s okay. Now it’s time to turn your idea into a real free logo design!

Open the Logo Designer

Set some time aside for this next step. Designing a logo can take a while depending on how complicated the design is. It’s better to start this process when you aren’t stressed or occupied with other things.

With your basic design in front of you, open the Online Logo Maker. You will see a bunch of menus appear alongside the main workspace. Inside the workspace, you should see a sample logo already laid out.

The main workspace is where you will create your logo. You can add a number of different elements to this space like text and graphics. This space will also allow you to move and size the elements to create the final free logo design.

Remove the Sample Logo

It’s a great logo for sure, but it’s already taken! In order to get a great logo for your business, you’ll need to start from scratch.

Start by clicking on one of the logo’s individual elements. For example, click on the target graphic to highlight the image. A rectangular box will appear around the image. This box allows you to move or resize any element to your liking.

Click the “delete” button next to the box. The target should disappear leaving only a white background. Repeat this step for the text. If you are successful, you should see a blank screen.

Now let’s get familiar with the interface.

Know All the Buttons

The interface for the online logo maker is powerful but simple once you know your way around. You’ve already been introduced to the main workspace. Now, let’s get familiar with the additional menu buttons.

To the left of the main workspace is the main menu. Here, you will find buttons to add text, symbols, or images. These buttons allow you to add additional elements to your logo. There is no limit to the amount you can add.

Below these buttons is the login box for premium members. While the online logo maker is free, you can upgrade to a premium account for extra options. This isn’t a required step, however.

Above the main workspace are a few important buttons to know about. Basic undo and redo buttons will let you fix mistakes or repeat actions you’ve taken. The color selector will change the color of the background. If you want some visual guidance when moving or sizing logo elements, click on the grid button.

At the end of this menu are the “new,” “save,” and “download” buttons. If you are a premium member, you can save your design at any point to work on later. When you are done with the design, you will click on “download” to save the logo file to your computer.

Finally, a contextual menu will appear on the left of the main workspace any time you click on a logo element. This menu will change depending on the type of element you select. For example, clicking on the text will reveal several options to change the font, size, and styling of the text.

Let’s get to the free logo design!

Add Some Visuals

While you can start anywhere, it’s usually easier to start with the basic visuals in the logo. This way, you will have the main visual to work with. If your planned logo doesn’t have any symbols or images, skip this section.

Click on the “add symbol” button. A library of different options will appear in the main workspace. Pick a symbol that looks attractive to your eye. The symbol will go to the main workspace.

You can add as many symbols as you want. If you have any images you want to include from your computer, click on “upload image.” A popup box will appear where you can select and add the image file.

As you add symbols and images, move them around the main workspace until you find an arrangement you like. Click on the edges of the black box to resize the image. The contextual menu will also have buttons for you to control the size and arrangement of the symbol or image.

Once you have something visually pleasing or close to your original design, it’s time to add some text.

Add the Text

Text can be a powerful addition to a logo. While some logos don’t include any text, it’s a sure fire way to let people know your business’s name. If you don’t want to include any text, skip this section.

Click on the “add text” button. A new logo element will appear in the main workspace with the words “enter a text.” Click on this element to reveal the black bounding box.

Click again on the text so you can type. Enter the name of your business or a tag line. Once you are done, click anywhere on the outside.

The contextual menu has several options to change the look of the text. Click on the button next to the “A” to change the font. The other options will let you bold or italicize, resize, or rearrange the text.

Finally, position the text until you have found the best spot in relation to the visual elements.

Finalize the Design

Feel free to play around with everything until you are happy with the overall free logo design. You can add or remove additional elements to see what works best. Once you are done, it’s time to download.

If you are a member, click on “save” to keep the file on the Online Logo Maker website. Click on “download” to save the logo file directly to your computer. This will let you use the free logo design for printed and digital materials.

Getting the Best Free Logo Design

Making the perfect logo is easy once you know your way around the online logo maker. The most important thing to remember is to keep at it. Keep designing until you are happy with the final product.
